For those facing issues for fertility, there are options available to assist in becoming pregnant. Intrauterine insemination, or IUI, is often the chosen method for couples wishing to conceive a child together.

It simply involves injecting sperm directly into the womb, so it’s more likely to combine with the egg than when normal ejaculation takes place inside the vagina. A larger quantity of sperm enters the uterus, the sperm doesn’t get destroyed by hostile vaginal mucous or anti-sperm antibodies and the journey the sperm have to make to fertilize the ovum is shorter. IUI is often tried before IVF along with fertility medications.

So on the day, sperm is contributed. It’s concentrated then washed, removing damaged or ineffective sperm plus seminal fluid. This is important as the fluid contains prostaglandins which normally don’t progress past the vagina. If they did get into the womb, they may cause illness and severe cramping.

Adding a preparation routine that includes self massage techniques and natural herb regimens can increase the likelihood of IUI success.

With intrauterine insemination, sperm is placed directly into the female’s uterus to increase the chances that her eggs will be successfully fertilized. The procedure is relatively quick and uncomplicated with only minimal discomfort. The cost of this procedure is usually less than the cost of going through in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

While some doctors do prefer that one or both members of the couple take fertility drugs to prepare for the procedure, they are not essential to the success of the insemination. The overall success rate average of IUI is somewhere between 15% and 20%. It should be noted that more of the successful procedures do include the use of fertility medications, though not all.

There a few aides, used with or instead of fertility drugs, that doctors have found to be helpful in improving the odds of achieving successful results from intrauterine insemination. Acupuncture, an ancient form of Chinese medicine, is known for relieving stress and has shown great promise in this area. It also increases blood flow to the reproductive system which encourages the production of healthy eggs and sturdier sperm in increased numbers.

Using natural herbs while undergoing preparation for this treatment helps to improve chances of fertilization. For women, the herbs help keep the menstrual cycle regular, stimulate egg production, and improve the blood flow to the uterus so that the walls will thicken and make egg implantation more successful. In men, it the herbs stimulate the production of stronger sperm in increased numbers which make the likelihood of fertilization much better.

Self massage is a technique by which several female fertility issues can be alleviated by manipulating the reproductive organs through massage. The technique focuses on making sure the uterus is in the proper position and properly relaxed so that it can function at its best. Through massage, the fallopian tubes are cleared while healthy blood is sent flowing to the ovaries to the benefit of the eggs.

When adding natural herbs, self massage, or both to the preparation routine, IUI success rates can be generously improved. Relaxation and optimum blood flow are key to getting both the sperm and the eggs ready for fertilization. To improve the possibility of conception, those considering IUI may also want to think of adding massage techniques and natural herbs to the regimen.
